FRESH EYES

Why Even Careful Writers Need a Proofreader

Whether your text is short or long, after a certain point you become blind to your own writing and start overlooking spelling, punctuation and grammar errors. Often, you also do not know exactly which formal requirements your university expects. As an academic service with experience since 2004, we know those requirements and take them into account in every proofread, so that the strengths of your text come through and its weaknesses disappear.

WHAT WE CHECK

Four Checks for a Flawless Text

Check What it means for your text
Spelling and grammar Spelling, grammar and punctuation errors are corrected; wording and sentence length are checked for clarity.
Citation and references Every citation follows your chosen style, every source in the text appears in the reference list – and every entry in the list is cited in the text.
Formatting and formal requirements Headings, numbering, tables, figures, lists and appendices are checked against your university’s guidelines.
Inclusive language On request, your text is adapted to the inclusive-language requirements of your institution.

A plagiarism check is included in every order.

FAQ

What does academic proofreading include?
Proofreading covers spelling, grammar, punctuation and expression, checks your text against the formal requirements and verifies that citations and reference list match your citation style. A plagiarism check is included.
How long does proofreading take?
Usually between one and six days, depending on length and the condition of your text. Tell us your deadline when you send your request.
Will you change my content?
No. Proofreading does not add or rewrite content. Where a passage is unclear, we leave a comment so that you can decide. If you also want feedback on argument and method, choose our thesis and dissertation editing.
Is proofreading allowed at my university?
Proofreading of language and form is permitted at most universities. Some institutions, especially in the UK, have their own proofreading policies – please check yours and declare third-party proofreading where this is required.
How much does proofreading cost?
Proofreading starts at €15 per page of 290 words. The exact price depends on length, the condition of your text and your deadline. You receive a fixed price before we start.
